update:
in my last post my 149 was blowing oil everwhere. i was wrong. when i got time to look it was actually blowing hydrolic fluid from the line that ran the deck lift. i got a hose from my buddies 'junk' pile. problem solved. now it's time to start mowing and i cant find my pto belt. my teenage son has no idea where he put my belts when he was moving things around in the barn. it was to late to get one from the I.H. dealer yesterday. and t.s.c. only has belts for 2009 and newer tractors. to make things more complicated i'm not sure what size the belt is. there seems to be some confusion among suppliers because my 149 has a 50 inch deck. does someone here have the same set up, or know what belt i need? any help would be really appreciated. thankyou, k. moore |

I'm coming up with part number IH-59971-C1 which is 3/8 x 78 as long as you have factory pulleys and such. Look at the blue heavy duty belt at TSC. I don't know if they have your size but they had one for my 1572 with haban deck and it's been holding up fine for a month now with no signs of wear. Then you can pick one up at the dealer when they're open.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
