Blades are hard to come by around here... What modifications can be done to put a blade from a 782 onto my 149 tractor?

We put a 1450 blade (same as 149) on a 682 with no modifications except a different lift bar since the 682 lift bar is bigger. You'll have to change the bracket on the blade that the lift bar attaches to and get a different lift bar, but that should be it as far as I know. If that's not it, someone will chime in

I used the blade from my 782 on my 129. Instead of a lift bar, I went to the local hardware store and bought a length of chain to use in place of a rod.
Here is a short vid of me using it: http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/b...t=MOV01814.mp4

Duh!!! Not a 149! A 147!!! Narrow frame. I'm sorry. I teach music and football season makes my brain really dumb to anything but marching band at the moment!!!
What modifications if it can even be done for a narrow frame?

You will need a NF subframe to make it fit.

If I had a sub frame from like a 127 parts tractor? Would that connect okay to the blade?

That would do the trick.

I'm just being cautious but I wouldn't think just the little subframe would be the only difference.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
