Thought I would post some pictures of my QA36 snow thrower restoration.
What started as a little project, turned out to be a wee bit more. I ended up stripping my QA36 completely, sandblasting everything, priming/sealing it all, and then epoxy enamel paint. I have new needle bearings and auger bearings (from Cub Cadet Specialties) on the way, along with a new chain and 14 tooth drive gear. Decals will be purchased from Madson's Service. The auger/rotor was replaced "Thanks to Rich" at Patton Acres. The mounting bracket/gearbox will be completed soon and I will post more pictures then. It is going to be interesting this winter to see how the 102 handles the task. I have faith in the ol' 10 HP w/creeper and new AG tires. ![]() Hope you enjoy the pictures, and "Thank-you" to everyone who helped me. CaptMax ![]() ![]() ![]()

CaptMax,
Very nice details on the snow blower. Great job! Thanks for sharing and taking the time to post the pictures. I have visions of having mine ready for the first snow fall, not sure what year. We will see! Regards, Chris

Love your restoration, your pictures and workmanship are inspiring me, as I am working to get my "new" QA 36 ready for the winter. You mentioned that you were getting new auger bearings. How did they work out? Mine were almost dry, but still in good shape, so I just cleaned them up and repacked them with a synthetic blend grease.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
