I was wondering if anyone had tried that solution that cleans up the plastic on the headlights of a car or truck and restores them to their original clear plastic look on a cub cadet steering wheel cap. If so, does it work well....just wondered before I went through the expense. Thanks!

I think in the long run you'd be better off buying a new cap. Most I've had have been so deteriorated that they weren't worth trying to save- they even were pitted in addition to all of the UV damage.

Agreed. Even if you can polish off a bit of the haze you will usually still be left with brittle plastic that has been broken down by the sun.

Cub Cadet 123 I have had different levels of success with the headlight resto kits.I used the 3M brand kit. I think it was about $16 for the kit. Depending how far gone the headlight is has a lot to do with how well they work. I have polished up a few headlights and they turned out almost new but were just turning a milky hue. I tried doing the headlight on my neon and it was just to far gone. I was able to get it back abut 50% which is better than it was. I also spent a lot of time on it.

Thanks guys. I was just curious about this possible solution and if anyone had any success with it or not. I thought that if I had some of that left over after working on my mom's car that she rarely drives I might use some of the left over solution on the cub steering wheel cap just to see what might happen. I wasn't expecting a bright clean, flashy new one to result....just to satisfy the curious itch. Thanks again for your input on my question!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
