1872 spews Hy-Tran! Help!!
I am a long time OCC lurker and an even longer time Cub Cadet owner (first one was a used 86 with a brand new K321 upgrade I got in 1980).
So my current issue. I have an 1872 that I have had for 15 years. The problem has only occurred 3 times (that I know of) during my ownership. All of a sudden the Hy-Tran oil will spew from near the steering box. It happened today. After a cold start-up, I drove the 1872 out of the shed (30 feet) at 1/4 throttle, 3/4 hydro control engagement (no attachments on except the three point hitch) and the oil was a continuous stream on the floor!! I shut the tractor off, waited 3 minutes, restarted and had NO oil coming out. I used the tractor for 2 hours (very light hitch work) and the 1872 leaked no more oil. So my question is; Does the steering box have a relief valve that vents out of the hydraulic system or where else could the oil come from?  P.S. Previously this happened with the mower deck on and the Hy-Tran lubed the deck belt so well the blades stopped in 6" grass!!

I don`t know what would cause that I`ve heard of them blowing seals out and countiously leaking but not to start and stop.
hopefully somone will chime in that knows these things.
