Well, I have been throwing my 2 cents worth into a few conversations....the least I can do is say hello! Just wanted to thank all who have given me answers to the MANY dumb questions I have had over the past few weeks - you all are great! The knowledge that is floating around here amazes me to say the least!
Just a regular guy living in the country in Eastern Ontario Canada...dreading the days ahead when the snow will start to fly. Heck we just got summer a few weeks ago! Been a long, rainy, cool spring and summer - had nicer weather in March up until a week ago. Oh well, that's life in Canada I guess. Wish I could brag about the Cubs I own....but that would be a lie. No Cubs yet, just a walk behind Cub blower I managed to find last winter. The number of times I have used it though (3 to be exact), I LOVE IT! As Tim Allan would say...."more power!" Nothing better than tearing into a big snow drift with 33 inches of raw power! :biggrin2.gif: I am still searching for the "right" tractor for me....hopefully I will find it some day sooner than later! |

LOL....Know the feeling for this year. Living in the State of Michigan, it has been one of the coolest summers on record. The older I get, the fun of winter diminishes. BUT, I have a 54" Blade and a 42" snowthrower and my Cubs are used year round. A lot us want and still look for Cubs. The only thing I can pass along is just be patient. Soon or later something will surface and then you can acquire it. I think that process never ceases once you get "yellow fever" :biggrin2.gif: I have five and still looking for more models.

Mountain Heritage,
Like R Bedell said be patient. I was in a hurry to get my first Cub because it was winter time and the old box store riding lawn mower I was using to plow snow with was not going to finish the year. And it was working me to death because it was so light. I paid too much for my first. It was far from ready to work and the old POS. I had actually made it through that snow season. I now have 4 IH Cubs. Three of them are now in very good working order and I will be able to move snow with them. Just keep your nose in CL, eBay, your local area advertisers and don't forget estate auctions. After you find your first one you will be finding them all over the place.:biggrin2.gif: |

BE PATIENT!! Don't do what I did and overpay for one just because you think you need it. Basically I settled and you don't want to do that. My first one was a 127 that needed and still needs quite a bit of work (oil burner, sloppy steering, sloppy speed/ratio lever) and I definitely overpaid for it. If I could do it again I would not have bought it. I would've just kept searchin and waitin for the right one. Good luck and be patient grasshopper!!

Thank you all for the kind words.....I do know where your coming from....patients and time ..... it will bring a cub my way! Funny, you know...was driving down the road today with wagon load of fire wood....seen a cub in a guys shed I have known for years! Never knew he had one......he doesn't use it as far as I know...he has a new lawn tractor the same as mine...(Poulin Pro, black with 42" deck).....might have to stop in and see him sometime....see what the old girl is doing just collecting dust in the shed? It is an older one...white and yellow.....not sure of model num though....will have to do the research to see what style it looks like.... I am hanging in there though...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
