Question Vanguard engine swap

I was thinking about doing a 14hp vanguard engine swap on a 128 but I can't think of a way to mate the driveshaft to the crankshaft of the enigine. Does anyone know how to do this or have any advice. I am fairly new with working Cub Cadets or any riding mowers. Just a teenage weekend warrior hard at work!

Dan

First about the adapter for a Briggs to Cub shaft. I used Cub part # 719-3096 for the adapter on my swap and you'll also need Cub part # 711-3330 pin. The pin goes into the hole in the center of the crank to locate the adapter. These are numbers from a Cub 2160 with a 16HP Briggs. Think they run under $40.00 Looks like it's the same numbers they use for the Kohlers. The bolts holes are sloted so my guess is it will fit both engines hence the locating pin to center it.

Second I'm in Galax VA 3 miles from the Blue Ridge Turnpike, this area is motorcycle nervana at least it is for me.

That's not going to work on a gear drive. A custom adapter will be required.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
