knocked on someone's door and asked about an obviously unloved, neglected cub parked in their yard? I drove by a QL today, passed by it pretty quick, but it looked in decent shape and it had wheel weights on it. (At least on the side facing the road). Looked like the owner ran it into a bush and just left it there.

I do that all the time, for cars and what not. . I also keep a few envelopes and small note pad in the truck. and put a letter in the mail box. sometimes they say come take it out of here. and sometiems they think they have a 100k pile of crap in the yard too.

I did it once, the only time I've ever saw a cub local (30 miles away), it was a 1450 sitting up by the road, under a willow.... looked horrible, but complete. Had old shoes sitting on the hood and junk. Went up knocked on the door, no one ever answered.

i do just about every day. lol everytime i see something sitting in the dingweeds thats apealing to me i always slam on the breaks or if there are other cars around, go turn around. ive gotten allot of stuff by just asking if they wanna get rid of it. just picked up a #1 cart for $10 by asking if someone "wanted to get rid of that old cart by the shed over there". never mentioning cash or "would you like to sell it" or "how much for that". i find i have better luck getting things for free or cheap by asking "would you like to get rid of it"

That's awesome. Thanks guys. I think i'll take a ride out there again next weekend and stop. If the owner won't part with it, maybe i can get the weights off it. Donovan, if it was my better half driving i'm sure she'd do the same thing your dad does!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
