I think there are 3 sizes of rag joints with the Original having a different hole size then the others. I think the thickness is the same tho.

Thanks for the info Duke... guess what, my local dealer had one in stock....incredible to have on shelf an item for a 50 year old garden tractor.

You'd be surprised what SOME Cub dealers will keep in stock. I walked into the local Case IH dealer, who also still carries Cub Cadet parts, and asked them what they had. They said that they still had 2 or 3 cog belts for the Original CC decks in stock. They still recognize that Iowans still use their old Cubs on a weekly basis...more icentive to keep parts like that around. I was very surprised. I could go in there and order what I need 95% of the time.

I put 4 new rags in my 882 after cutting a new driveshaft the same lenght as the original and they wouldn't fit.
I had to make another shaft. The original is on the left and the new on the right. Three new rags were the same thickness as 4 old when stacked together.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
