Smile Found a 2082 Tractor

Hello all, I'm new to this hobby and am searching for my first tractor. Found a 1986 2082 locally with new paint, 60" deck, rear PTO, and 900 hours.

My goal with what ever I get is to mount a plow and hit the plow day events.

What's opinions of this model. Are they heavy duty enough ? Will sleeve hitch or 3 pt fit ?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Mike

A 2082 is a Cub Super. With a rear PTO I’m surprised it doesn’t already have the 3 point hitch on it. Yes you can add one to it. Xtreme and Ruegg make them for Cubs.

If it has rear pto then it had a cat 0 hitch also. Be careful about what people tell you about the rear pto. All the super hydro pumps have a shaft out the back and some people think that is where you hook up the shaft. The cat 0 with rear pto adds a lot to the price of the tractor. Got any pictures? Ruegg is the only aftermarket company that I know of that makes the correct rear 3 point hitch.

I haven't looked at it yet. Seller claims it has rear PTO, but since he bought used and only mows , he probably is seeing the stub shaft and thinking it's a
PTO. I would probably think the same thing.

Thanks for pointing that out. How do these rate in the value department. This one has been repainted to IH Red. I think I read a comment somewhere that these have the aluminum read end vs cast iron on the original IH tractors.

But it looks like about anything built since the 80's have it.

Thanks

Michics, there is nothing wrong with an aluminum rear if it was taken care of. When you go to look at these types of tractors take a 9/16 wrench with you and check the 6 bolts to see if they are loose. If they are then maybe you can adjust the price or pass it up.

Inboard, the output shaft on the pump will turn as fast as the engine does and the ratio of the pulleys will take the 3600 rpm of the engine/output shaft and reduce it down to 2000 rpm.

Michics I have a 2084 that is very close the same as the 2082 at least frame and rear end wise. My engine is the Kohler command and the 2082 has the Kohler Magnum. I have had no problems at all with the aluminum rear but check those bolts frequently to be sure they are tight. You will absolutely love that super. I have owned cub cadets since the mid 70s and my super is great at everything I ask it to do. I mow, haul, yard vac and snow blow with it and it is really up to all I ask it to do. That power steering is awsome.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
