Default where did you put your oil filter?

Putting an M15 in a 782 and would like to know where any of you that have done a mag conversion have mounted the oil filter. I know I saw a picture of this back a couple years ago, but can't find it. Does anyone have a picture of your filter mounted?

On the later tractors, the filter was mounted on the backside firewall. You can do it on your 782 also. You just have to cut a notch for the oil lines so the side panels will fit. You also might have to drill holes to mount the filter bracket.

Or you can do this, no cutting required, and you can use the long oil filter, too.

I have a question Matt. Will that filter drain out when not running or is there a checkvalve in them?

On my 782 when I put an m-18 in it, I just left the filter on the side of the engine in the factory position.
I carefully cut an access hole in the air shroud; it allows easy access and causes no problems. ---- No oil lines/remote mounting issues to deal with.
Would I do it that way again? Most defiantly!
There is a pix of it here somewhere but I can’t find it.
If someone wants I can take a pix of it and post.

George on Cub Cadets they never mounted the filter on the side of the engine. They always had remote oil filters.

I guess I must of had an odd ball CUB CADET,along with all the others they produced just like it.
I converted the engine from vertical to horizantal for my 782 and it did have a oil filter mounted on the engine.
I parted out what was left and made money.
The complete mower cost me $200 and had a very good engine.
I have posted pix of it several years back.
Here is the parts tree diagram of the filter and mounting block on a CUB CADET.

What engine is that?

I'm not saying Kohler didn't mount the filter to the block. I know they did. I have two magnums with it mounted there but the ones with the oil lines are factory too. Unless the cyclops tractors used the block mounted ones, then Cub Cadet only used the ones with the oil lines in their horizontal engines.
