Default Front Blade ?

Is there a way to put down pressure on the front blade on a 1450? right now it floats and sometimes it would be nice to be able to hold it down. I've had it roll over stuff that I'm pushing.

Yes, There is a float pin you can install to put down pressure on the blade.
Just be sure to remove it when you install a mower deck or other attachment that needs to float.

Thanks, Diz Jr. What size of pin and where does it go? Pics or diagram would be nice if someone has them. We have a couple lathes so I can make a pin if I know the dimensions. Thanks, cjet69

Found a diagram on cubcadet.com parts lookup. Looks like #9 is what I need. Do the rest of you use the lockout or float when using your blade? Is there a downside when using the lockout? like breaking something.

You have to be careful and not run into anything with the float locked out. The manual warns you could be unseated if you run into something. If your doing your driveway and theres nothing around I wouldn't worry to much about it but if your pushing dirt around a tree stumps or roots I'd be worried.

for the input, Methos. I'll keep this in mind if I install the lockout. Maybe I should install an airbag in case I forget.

Duke's right on the float lockout. Gotta be careful otherwise, that steering wheel hurts.
Same thing on the spring trip of the blade. Some guys wanna ram piles of snow and lockout the spring trip feature. I've told them that ice and frozen rocks don't move too far. They learned the hard way.

My spring trip is unlocked. The lockout for it is rusted and not moving right now. I could see catching the blade on the edge of our concrete pad with everything locked out could be a rude awakening.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
