Default K301 dipstick moving up and down when cranking
I just picked up another 122. When the motor is cranked the dipstick pops up and down about an inch. After the motor starts I can push the dipstick down and it stays seated.

Any ideas what could cause this to happen?

Pressure buildup in the crankcase? Maybe check the breather to make sure it isn't plugged.

i've seen that pretty often the dipstick fits too loose in the tube,you need to replace it

does your dipstick have a bad O-ring that isnt holding it in the tube anymore?
mine would blow out only when it would start up.

I found it's just a bad seal on the dipstick as some here suggested.
