After months of searching the i finally found a 1772. i picked up this cub yesterday in MD. its only got 735 hours on a working meter. it came with a 60" habban, which will need a bit of work. the tractor is mostly in good shape. i will be doing a full service, some painting, new decals and fixing up some wiring that's a bit ugly. After i got it home i took it for a spin around the yard then i decided to park it and look over the engine. Ironically that's when the fuel pump decided the quit. i did notice the fuel pump is after market and looks like it was an off the shelf gas unit. so, ill be getting a new OEM fuel pump and new fuel lines. all in all i still a very happy with the new addition.

Nice find and looks nice also !! And low hrs. also !!!
A diesel Super is on my want list. You might check the lift pins that the deck hangers attach to , i bought two gas Supers that had the 60" decks on them and the pins were wore almost half way thru. I had to grind the back side of the pins off and knocked them out and welded bolts in thier place. I guess the weight and the bouncing up/down of those big decks are hard on the pins. |

thanks guys
the deck did seem to lift up kinda strange, further inspection revealed that the right side pin isn't even in the mount. it doesn't seem to be worn out so hopefully i can just put it back in. now off the to get me a fuel pump...

so the fuel pump had to be ordered, will be in tomorrow.
as i was cleaning 25 years of dirt off of it i notice one of the bolts from the frame going into the axle shaft had snapped off. i tried to get a drill in there but cant with the axle in. so it looks like ill be pulling the rear out. another bump in the road.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
