Default Quick question regarding QA36A/QA42A mounting to 129 (or similar)

Could anyone who's got a QA thrower on anything with a 1/2 PTO check something for me? I had to mount my thrower to my 129 today for the remainder of the winter and noticed the pulley on the thrower was a good bit out of angular alignment with the PTO. Having never had to adjust this before, I started looking around for some kind of adjustment. Long story short, I noticed that there were several spacer plates between the 90° gear box and the thrower frame. It looks like if I removed one of those, that could fix the problem. So, to work I went. Having never seen anywhere how to adjust this, I hoped I was right and half an hour later it seemed I was. But for peace of mine, I wanted to check in with anyone else who's got a similar setup and see what they have for spacers. I've got two on the bottom and now one on the top of the gear box. So is this how anyone else's is setup? Any input is appreciated, thanks guys!!

You just move the pulley on the shaft. Don't change the gearbox mounting. Loosen the set screws and move the pulley. I'd take the shim back out.....

I was ready what he wrote as the pulley was "crooked" compared to the PTO. ( if the mount had a bend in it, it could happen )

Hmmmm.....Now that I re-read it, that may have been what he meant.

I get that part but that's not it. Originally there were two of those spacer plate I have circleed in there. When I hooked it up, the pulley on the tractor and the pulley on the thrower were out of alignment in such a way that had I left it that way, when I put a belt on it would have rode the side of the new pulley on the thrower side and chewed the belt up in no time like it did once before. Plus I recall reading somewhere that the engine on the 82 series vs previous series Cubs was angled up 3° and now this makes sense to me.

It's not really a question of did something need adjustment to work/align right with my 129, I know it did, I just wanted to make sure I was adjusting it right

You did the correct angle adjustment to get them lined up. I would check on the point Jonathon made to verify they are in line to maximize belt life.

Now first off, this image is NOT meant to be totally accurate, i.e. the angles aren't exact, engine's are boxes labeled engines, etc.

That being said, this is basically what I did today. Basically I removed one of the "blue" spacers to make the input shaft on the thrower line up with the angle of the PTO on the tractor. I hope this makes thing's a little clearer

Ok, so I didn't get that the first time. Makes sense now.
Still not sure if mounting the gearbox at an angle is a good idea. I'm afraid it will put unnecessary strain on the mounting flanges. I really think it should be mounted flat. How out of kilter was it? It will probably be fine, just would make me nervous.
Interestingly, the parts books don't show the shims on the gearbox, but my QA has them too.
