Drug (I know, 'dragged') this 1811 home earlier this week. It has a two stage blower on it. About 1000 hours. Either a switch or a solenoid (or wire) to get it to start with the ignition but jumping the solenoid starts easily. Was able to get it out this morning in the snow and a couple observations.
Less than an hour run time but the engine is smoothing out already. I think it set most of the year (only used it for snow, and the PO bought a replacement last year). Some fresh gas and running it a bit seems to be helping. Hood and side panels have some surface rust but just barely through the paint and in quite good condition for a refinish. This blower is heavy. 'Too much' for the tractor in some ways. I wish it lifted higher, and when down the front tires wont bite enough to turn it tightly (at least sometimes). Any little bump or incline transition and the tractor struggles to move it. Having said that, for up and down swipes on the drive it blows like crazy. For deeper snow, no comparison to the blade. So even if I sell the tractor, think I will hold onto the blower (assuming it fits the 784 as well). But I need more time with the 784 first to learn more how then engine on it will hold up - seeming to be burning a little oil to me, and oil drips means I need to dig into it a bit and learn more. In the mean time will just clear the drive with this 1811. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And yes these set out overnight because I wanted them near the house for duty first thing this morning. Still snowing so I get another round this evening.

Looks like my place. I'm going out in an hour or so to clean up. Hope it's done by then but, I doubt it.

Congrats on the 1811! One of the best GT's cub built, IMHO.
Yes, the blower is heavy, you need 30psi in the front tires to carry it. No, you can't steer with it down, you have to lift it a little. If you can't push it, you need service the hydrostat on the tractor, it should push it fine. No, they don't lift very high, just they way they are. Good luck!

That's a good find a 1811 and a big a$$ snow blower and being a two stage its a 450? or 451? correct? I have a QA on my 1811 being a single stage it doesn't do near as good of a job as what have, so it just sit and collects dust. From my limited experience with my 1811 and all the expert input from you guys the 1811 is a good solid tractor and built to last with good maintenance.

Nice 1811 and blower combo. Should be a 450. It should work on the 782 as well. I'd love to find one for one of the smokers......

Im not sure the blower model - the tag is missing. Did happen to snap one of the serial number tag, if that helps: ![]() To be clear, the hydro pushes just fine - it just loses traction on the wheels. Im going to fill the tires (will add some weights someday when I get them as well). But with the chains and tires filled Im sure it will be fine once I decide a blowing swath pattern... This was about 6", and by the time I get home tonight should be another 6" of fresh snow. So more practice time. Doesnt look that deep in this finished pic:

Belt broke.
Pretty torn up so not exactly sure the size (doesnt piece back together so cleanly). Anyone know what size belt to connect a 450 (?) blower to an 1811? |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
