Default Choke cable stuck on 2145

My HDS 2145 serial # 290 290 choke cable frozen

Would wd 40 work or should I use a different oil?

Also is there a best way to remove cable?

Thanks,

John

Yes, WD-40 or replace the cable.

Nothing special, it's just like changing any other choke cable.

I use a cable lube for motorcycles. There is a tool just for doing cables. It can do different size sheaths. Grommet has steps in it. Yours may already be beyond saving if stuck. But might help with future cable maintenance.

Hope this link works. Not promoting this one in particular. I use cable life and like it very much. But there are many out there.

The 2000 series cables have a funky snap in mount on the dash unlike normal cables.

I used Power Blaster on one that was stuck.

I agree with the MC cable lube.

My bad. I've changed them before, but I guess I don't remember the snap ring..... Maybe it had been replaced before. IDK. Maybe it wasn't a 2145 either.

No snap ring, they are plastic and push into a square hole in the dash. Crappy design.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
