Default What year was my 1420 built?

Thanks to Roland's help I have my 1420 back up and running.

I have been searching the web and this forum for an answer, but can't find it.

How can I decipher the year built code that is on my LT ??

the code is "R038G" with a caveat on the "R" as it is quite faint on the label.

Any help or direction on where to look would be appreciated.

thanks,
mowin

How about the serial number?

They only made the 1420 for two years, 1990/91.

Ok, I goofed. They did make the 1420 longer than I said. 88-91. There was a serial number break in 89/90. That's why I goofed, I didn't see the break. Yours was made the first half of the range. 88/89. But I'm having trouble narrowing it down to a year. Maybe someone else will know. My book doesn't give a break down of SN# by year for LT's.

My guess is 88... but that is going by your serial numbers position in the serial range for the two years. (Did that make sense?)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
