Default Look out, I'm mowing

my main mower is a MTD 50"GT, not my 128.
about 6 weeks ago my neighbor gave me a 10 yr old yard machines 42" 20hp
after he ran over some metal and tore up the deck saying it was done as a mower
(I had it fixed the next day but waited untill his new one arrived before using it)
my 50" gt is a push in the clutch to stop and brake
the yard machine you push the pedal to go ,with a brake above it.
so far I have mowed down flowers ,high centered it and crashed into junk in the garage .

Not easy doing something backwards and opposite of what your used to. Stay away from any large bodies of water.

Man I'm glad I don't have problems like that. I'd never be able to climb out of a combine and into a truck and drive!

I will say.... that it does get a little hard running a Ford triple stick backhoe. They are the only backhoe that the control sticks are just backwards from..... EVERY OTHER MACHINE MADE. So I guess I can empathize.

I'll never forget a customer of mine. Older gentleman (he passed away a few years ago). He was a contractor that I had known all my life. He built all the buildings on our farm. He came to me because of all that he had done for my family, he wanted to "give back". Great guy! Anywho, he had always owned Ford equipment, backhoes and the like. A few years before he died he bought a brand new Cat backhoe. I never worked on it. After his death, it needed some attention and the family wanted it fixed for the sale. They brought it down and I jumped in to pull it in the shop. I have to fold down the boom to bring a hoe in because my door isn't tall enough. I reached back and grabbed the stick and proceeded to unhook it from the latch. (It was also a triple stick machine). I dang near took out the door!!! Since Cat was set up completely backward from his old Ford, he had Cat change the controls to match it. He said "I'm too old to learn how to run a backhoe all over again!". LOL! Well, he could run it! But apparently, I couldn't ...... LOL.

It can get entertaining going from one machine to something that is totally opposite.

Hop on a old Case tractor and forget what you are driving. Hand clutch and brake pedals on each side. When dad first got it 20 years ago I had quite the nasty experience with a tree limb. Thought I was mashing in the clutch while I was actually hitting the left brake pulling me further under the tree limb. Had no choice but to duck and hold on tight.

I remember when I was a kid (yes I can remember that far back) I was riding on a new tractor with an old russian man that had only ever worked his farm with horses. He was doing pretty good until we got close to a fencerow. He got excited and was pulling on the steering wheel yelling WHOA, WHOA along with a few words in a foreign tongue. As the tractor started into the fencerow I reached down and shut the key off before damage was done. The old guy just looked at me with eyes as big as saucers

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
