Default hydro check valve?

Can these valves be fixed/unstuck? I only had rev, swapped the valves and the problem followed, I had fwd and no rev. Which valve is fwd? Is there something I can do to free it up?

Dan:

YES...the Hydro Check Valves can get gummed up, clogged with foreign debris, and just wear out.

Remove the valves, place them in a "penetrating solution" for a while, clean them out, blow them out real good, and check for free movement. If you are confident that you done all you can, re-install them and check out the operation.

If all went well, then things should be back to normal. If not, then Check Valve replacement is probably needed.

Here is some further information.... Check Valves

The new prices were $57.02 from L.G. Fluid power,
that I received last week.
Still a lot less expensive than from cub cadet.

LG will take visa orders over the phone, but not Discover.
At least that is how I paid for my last two orders.
They have old style and new style, new style # is LJ-9500085.
They are in Delton Michigan (near Grand Rapids) I don't know if they ship to Canada but I would think so.
If you purchase the valves from John Deere Vs. cub cadet, they are less expensive but not much.
The valves from L.G are new valves, not used or rebuilt or ebay questionable.
I might add I have no interest in L.G Fluid Power, just passing along my experience with them.

Thanks! I have the fluid here from IH....got that and a filter both. Got home and realized I needed a rear cover gasket in order to change the oil though. So I am waiting to grab that later this week. Also cleaned a corner of the bench off....realized I had a hydro filter here already. Guy I bought the tractor from gave me one....DUH! Well, I guess I will not need one for a while now, just have to remember to look for it in the cupboard next time I want to change it!
I think I will try giving them a call today and see if they will ship to Canada. Certainly a lot cheaper if they do - even if they send it pony express!

Right now I have the manual release type in the tractor.....do I automatically replace them with the same? Or is it better to have the automatic type???? What is the benifits of each? Anyone care to take a stab at this one?

The manual Check Valves will be replaced by the Automatic Type.

Ok, dumb question....why would they go to manual over the automatic? It seems everything in the world is going to automatic?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
