Default K241AS rebuild kits

There is a lot of choices for rebuilding my engine. What are some of the better ones out there? Keep in mind I am looking to only spend $100 or less. CC veterans speak up! Thanks y'all.

I have always heard you will be happier if you substitute a REAL Kohler head gasket.

You can't do it for less than $100. Sorry. If you do it yourself, counting machine work, you should have about $250-$350 in it. Parts alone are more than $100 no matter where you buy them.

+1 unless your planning to do a half a$$ed job there's no way to rebuild it for $100, a full kit off eBay runs about $130 and it will cost about $100 to have all the machine work done unless the crank needs turned then it will cost more.

If you are referring to just a engine rebuild kit they can be had at Pats Small Engine or Kustom small engine for less than a $100. They are the 2 places I deal with and have had very good luck with both. Kustom is the only place I know of that offers a .020 under rod. I just got a k301 out of the shop the other day and the bill was $140. That was a +.010 bore, valve job and a new exhaust valve. If the crank would of needed grinding that would have tacked another $50 onto the bill. Good Luck Kelly

You have to be the judge of that. We know nothing about your engine. Has it been bored over has the crank been turned does it need valves.

if the engine was ever rebuilt in the past it could have had the crank cut under size and a .010 os bore . unless you owned it since it was new I'd suggest opening it up and do some checking before you order your parts.

Listen to Don and Jon, they know what their talking about. If you haven't your gonna have to tear it down and get some measurements and inspect the engine to see what it needs, before you decide on a kit.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
