Default New cub owner of and older 2166.

Just wanted to say hi.

I just picked up a mint condition cub cadet. This cub was stored in a shed for over 10 years. The hour meter says 71 hours, but the previous owner must have left the key in the on position and forgot because it is show room quality

Not a scratch on the unit. It's missing one sticker, but other than that it's perfect. The blades even still have all the paint on them. The owner said she ran it 3 times and then parked it and it sat ever since.

I cleaned up the brake safety switch added some gas and she fired right up! I test drove it around today and she put a grin on my face. Super excited to say the least.

Best $600 I have ever spent!

I bought one of these for my ex son in law. Great tractor. Give it a little TLC and it should server you well.

Greased up all the zerk fittings today, bypassed the reverse safety switch and mowed with it. I can't believe I mowed with a push mower before.... This is a breeze! Seems to run great and allowed me to cut the front lawn in about 15 minutes. This is my first tractor. I need to move some rocks in the backyard and then I will tackle that tomorrow. Who said mowing can't be fun?

Probably the best $600 you ever spend on a LT but it's a big mistake to run an engine sitting in a shed with 10 years old oil in it! I suggest you change the engine and tranny oil+filter before any damage occurs, Synthetic oil can keep their viscosity and propriety longer but looking at this cub I bet he got the original Dino oil in it.

You got a Kohler command with a shaft drive tranny in that machine, 6 quarts of oil and a filter for the tranny and 2 quart and a filter for the engine is a cheap assurance.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
