Default GT2186 PTO Possible issue??

Today while mowing it sounds like the PTO has a loud rattle. It tries to quit while on a hill sometimes, but mostly constant. My question is would this be the PTO bearing? I assume its not replaceable?? I've found a after market on eBay I think fits it for $170. Are these hard to install and any special tools needed???
Thanks in advance.

If you need to replace the PTO, these guys make some killer stuff.

I was very impressed with the clutch I ordered from above link. Easy installation, nice piece. It was pretty much plug and play on my 2084.

Just a heads up, the easy way to get at the PTO is to remove the complete hood and grill assembly and the muffler. Grill is attached to the frame with 4 small bolts that screw into the frame. I use a 10 MM socket to get them out. The muffler has 3 nuts that hold it to the frame they are just in front of the 2 pulleys under the PTO. Use some power blaster on them. If you twist one or 2 off you can drill and tap the muffler for a bolt. BTDT. pic is a LT2180 but pretty much the same as what your working on.

Thanks guys. I'm going to remove the tension in pulley and see if it wiggles or can tell if it's the bearing. I'll check out the link for clutch. This one had been acting up anyway. Sometimes it was not engaging fully. You could just hear it rubbing the clutch plates.
This is the one I was looking at. Anybody ever use this one?

The link looks like it's the same pro clutch. ExTreme. The way the 2186 looks like there's clearance to just remove the nut in the front and slide off. I may try that first then take hood, grill and muffler off if needed. I couldn't detect any movement with tension off pulley. I'll triple check to make sure the noise is coming from pto and not a spindle or something. I'd rather fix it now than have it break in the middle of mowing. I don't have a back up mower here YET!

Link is to the same guys. I prefer not having to deal with Flea Bay so I just go direct.

I'm pretty sure shipping is cheaper when purchased directly.

I second what Sam says-
I had to pull mine off my 2166- as my stopper snapped off. Had to pull PTO to thread a new one back in. While I don't recall having to do anything heroic to get it off- I may have had to use a right angle pry bar just to break loose.

Pulling off the front panel and hood takes max 5 minutes and gives you a dead on view with plenty of room.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
