Default My First Super 2182

Hey all,

New to the forum, excited to see more talk about super cubs than anywhere else. I picked up this 2182 a few days ago for 1200 bucks, around 380 hours of it. And a 54 inch deck (I will be getting a haban). Deck looks rough but is solid. Kubota idles like a sewing machine. My plans are to clean it up, do all the proper maintenance, and get it ready to mow. I have a 140 h3 I will be using for plowing snow so this will be designated for mowing. Did a quick compression test an all three cylinders scored between 150-160 psi so I think I'm good to go!

Just ordered the xtreme sgt rear end brace. Hope to install that as soon as it comes in. Will be re-wiring the entire tractor as well. Hoping to get a simplified wiring schematic to eliminate safety's. Stay tuned.

Well started in on the rear end today. Removed the rear hitch plate. Everything was covered in oil and grime.

Leaks from who knows where, or maybe just grass clipping dirt and a little oil.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
