Just bought my first red. It's a 1282 with homemade sleeve hitch and ag tires and manual lift. I will be bringing it home next weekend. I was told it has a small grounding issue but that should be an easy fix for me. I will post pics when I get home I am have issues where I'm at.

That's nice! What is the engine in that model? I like the red cubs, just look more IH. My next cub purchase is going to be a red one w a larger deck than what's on my 124 to take over mowing duty.

Looks to be in good condition! Don't see many 1282's. Is that a 44C deck?

Good looking 1282! I have a 1211(basically the same) and love it! It has a hydro lift. It is my snow moving tractor.

That is a 44 inch deck. And I will have to look at it closer when I get it home to see if it has cut marks on it. They had a few other mowers some even had hydro lifts and even bigger motors but this was the only red and only one with the sleeve hitch setup.

Or it wouldn't fit in his truck/trailer.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
