Default Make a better lawn ornament.

Don't know why I do these things to myself... Bring these rusty. crusty, left to rot tractors home. Must be three people, cause one can't be this stupid
So over the weekend brought those two tractors I bought over the winter home to evaluate their potential... Oh boy The 106 was way past it's expiration date, so it became a parts tractor, just more wrong than right. Someone throughout it's life replaced the trans with a hydro unit, and no linkage or anything to make it functional.
But the 107 has a little more potential to be something, I hope. Wiring is a mess, fuel tank is a gunk filled mess, the carburetor is stuck solid. The paint has a real nice patina, many years in a pine plantation... the hydro linkage and go lever is stuck, no movement, as well as the choke and throttle cable... You get the picture.
But, it has a gear box on the back, three point and spring assist... Doesn't that make it worth fixing? So I'm going to at least see if it'll run before committing to go much further. We'll see.
Thinking it'll make a better lawn ornament.

Todd my dear friend, I know you are used to pain but I have to ask why you would do this to your self?

Just my 2 cents but those look like organ donors. My guess knowing you is that you will restore them to better than new so I'll shut up now.

I can see that 107 on top of the big rock in your yard as an ornament.

Yup, it ain't pretty.
NO SAM there will be none of that. Just want to see "if" it'll run, and move under it's own power.
Yeah Lew I thought of that. Giving it a quick paint job and putting it on top of the rock. The wife never says anything about what I do, but that boat sunk before it left shore.

Todd you may be in for a surprise, I bought a 127 some time ago that I was sure was a parts machine, it had sat in a group of trees in a pasture for several years, it was a filthy mess but it had a 3 point, electric lift, spring assist, and headlights. Paid $85.00 for it and thought I'd make a killin off of it.

Turns out, after I cleaned the carburetor and put a kit in it, cleaned up the points and set the timing, it may very well be the best running Narrow Frame tractor that I own.

Something about books and their covers comes to mind...

Keep the faith, you may get lucky too.

I agree, I've saved a lot of rough ones the same way.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
