Default Root Ripper

I needed something to tear up some bittersweet roots, so I built this "root ripper". I gave it a trial run this morning, and it worked pretty good. I was able to break an oak tree root which was about 1" diameter, so I don't think the bittersweet will be a problem. I even added some saw-tooth cuts to let the roots know what we're up to here.

What's the disc on top for?
So you can flip it over?

I like it!

I may have to build a larger version for the Deere to take care of those 4-6" poplar roots.

Yes, one less piece of exercise equipment that I don't have to feel guilty about for not using.

I wonder if it could rip permafrost in the Alaskian gold fields.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
