Default PTO belts

I've done a lot of searching for these belts, would like to order from a local store in the event I need to return if they are not correct, no one seem to carry them in 3/8 width
First belt I'm looking for is a cub cadet 100 with a 38" deck which would be p/n 473462R4
Second belt I need is for a cub cadet 124 with a 48" deck which I found is p/n 489397R3
The local cub dealer could only find the 489397 and told me it was a 1/2"x77".
I searched on line and could only find 1/2" wide belt. I bought a 1/2" x 81" from Napa for the 100 and it worked fine the first time I used it but was obvious it wasn't seating into the pulleys correctly. It did inevitably slip out.
Any suggestions?

Try this

http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4633

It lists belt sizes and lengths for all different tractors/implements etc.

The mower drive belts are 3/8" for the older tractors (as the one ol'George linked to) They are also V belts, which just means they have a deeper V profile that say an accessory belt on an engine. 3V810 is the size you need (I think). the 3V denotes a 3/8" belt with a V profile. 810 is the length - 81.0".

This page goes over the details well
http://www.biedlers-belts.com/single-v-belts.html

I hear a lot of people say to only get OEM belts, as aftermarket won't last as long. But when most people link belts they are linking 1/2" aftermarket belts. Cub calls for 3/8 belts, which is what you get from them OEM. IMO that's why they don't last as long. From my own experience, going through 3 "cheap" 1/2 belts, if you don't have perfect pulleys etc, they won't last.

I bought a 3/8 Gates belt and it worked great on the same setup that chewed through 3 1/2 belts.

Here is the best resource I've found to get them reasonable priced. No one local had them, and it wasn't gonna be cheap to "special order" them.

Here is the 3V810 belt that you'll need for the 38" deck. (double check with the linked chart)

Thanks very much fellas for the helpful resources. I didn't think that oem prices on the belts was too terribly hateful, but I ultimately went with Jason's supplied link to biedler brothers belts and got both for about half of oem, I'm fine with gates. Thanks again for the help there George and Jason

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
