As I had mentioned in the post of the initial build, my plan was to run a few hours shake down and then install a turbo on my 782D. The time has come! I hope that this will be completed in a reasonable amount of time, and I will take pictures of the progress. So here we go -----
EDIT - I should add the the kit was purchased from OCC member Mike Masharis. The kit is very well thought out and even comes with a short description of someones experience installing the kit. Thanks Mike!

You have way too much fun, Doc. I have never heard a Cub Whistle before in person. Now I know I'm gonna have to take a drive someday!

Looks like your in it for the long haul. Got some questions- did you source the components yourself or purchase in a kit? What is the projected power result when installed? Have you beefed up the driveline? the drive shaft and joints- if you did what did you change up to?
Looks like a cool project- I will be watching with envy. Please keep the pictures coming as you go! |

No need to beef up the driveline on a hydro. Only so much power can go through a hydro, and only takes so much power to drive one. Turbo will help with the load on the PTO, but won't really affect drive power. |

Regardless of whether the driveline needed to be beefed up or not, I did make improvements. I installed a hydro with the splined input shaft from a Cyclops along with the CV style drive shaft. The adapter at the motor end was supplied by Jeff in PA. The shaft had to be shortened by about 6 inches so I turned a 4 inch long coupler with .750 ID on the lathe then welded it in the middle saving both splined ends of the Cyclops driveshaft. It makes for a nice clean installation and no more spirol pins to worry about.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
