Cool Home made Band Mill

A friend of mine shared a video with me of his homemade bandmill. I'd say it looks like it works pretty good.

Here's the specs he supplied

5hp, 3 phase motor for the blade.
1/2 hp to move the carriage.
old hospital bed motor to raise and lower the blade. (or hand crank)
Made the wheels from 16" extra heavy pipe. Idler wheel uses spindle from F100 as the bearing.
1 1/4", 1 tooth per inch .045 blade 11' 6" long
Most of the stuff I had on hand, just had to buy the 5" C channel for the frame.

run the unit with a 3 phase propane powered Onan generator.

That is really cool Jeff! I never would of thought to make one of those from scratch.

Did you guys consider using an old camper trailer frame for the saw frame? Might need to be beefed up, but it's already mobile and comes with a title to make it road ready.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
