Default 169 mower belt size

I have a recently acquired 169 that came with a 50C deck. Not sure if it was the original deck. It did not come with belts. Does anyone know what size belts are needed to get it operational?
Thanks

If it is a 50C it will not work unless someone changed the center pulley on the mower. The C uses a 5/8" belt and the PTO on the tractor uses a 3/8" belt. You need to check the pulley size on the mower.

There were three (3) versions of the 50" deck.

A) Model 50 for the 1x8/9 Series
B) Model 50A for the Quietline Series
C) Model 50C for the 82 Series.

Thus it is important to know the differences so the correct parts can be used.

Thank you for the info.
If I change the center spindle as mentioned, will it work?

It will, yes. If it has not already been changed.

Just the pulley, not the spindle.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
