Default QA42A Snow Blower

I'm thinking about picking up a Cub Cadet 107 to mount to my QA42A Snow Blower. Does any one have any ideas on how well this will work? I'm looking to use it for anything over a foot of snow. My 149 with a 54 inch blade handles up to a foot well, but I wanted the blower for anything over that.

Just read this current thread:
http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=50960

Seems like this is a popular question this year.... If I need to I can dig through, but I think you are the 3rd person to ask this question in the last coupe days.... Second one today at least.

So from what I just read, I guess I should be looking for something with a creeper gear? And NOT hydrostatic.

Hydro is much much better for blowing.

It will work just fine on a 107, but it would be better on the bigger tractor. Those things will take all the power you can give them.

No. Hydro is far better for blowing snow. But if you run a gear drive, you will need a creeper. If you are looking for a tractor and blower, get a hydro for snow work.

I like hydro's for mowing and snow removal. All other chores, I prefer a gear drive.

I have the blower, I'm just looking for a tractor to keep it on permanently. But I'm thinking the 107 my be a little under powered for what I want to use it for.

If you want it to run a snowthrower, it will be fine. You don't need a big tractor with big HP unless you have to do a parking lot and need to make fast time. Don't get too excited about HP.....

I'll keep that in mind. My driveway is approx. 100yds long with a parking area for about 8 vehicles.

And...... ??? It doesn't matter. It will clear it. As said, HP only allows you to move a little faster. A LITTLE faster.....

Agreed. My 126 (12hp) with a QA42 does just fine and throws the snow far! I actually like to aim it straight up and throw it towards the sky now and again (simple things...). But none the less my 12hp does just fine and I've never run out of power. And it is gear drive with creeper . Yes hydro would work better but I'm a gear man and I'll take mixing and matching gears any day...even if it is "more work".

As Jon stated...don't worry about horsepower - your Kohler powered and that's all that matters.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
