Default Wont Start
The 1541 will not start with the brake pedal depressed. It will start if I turn the key on and short the starter selenoid so the starter and battery is ok. I suspect the brake interlock switch. Before I start tearing stuff apart to find the switch I could use a hint as to where it is located. Am hoping that I do not have to remove the mower deck to get up under the machine. Not an easy task at my age. Any hints? Thanks

There can be two devices that will cause your situation. (A) PTO switch, and (B) Brake Switch. If either were to fail, then you have what you got. On the Law of Averages, I would start with the Brake Switch. There also could be a bad wire or wire connection between the Ignition Switch "S" Terminal and the Starter Solenoid Coil.

I have never worked on a 1541, but the Parts Diagram shows the Brake Switch on a "frame cross member". Maybe you can access this Switch by removing the Tunnel Cover and looking at the Brake Pedal linkage.

The Cyclops series of tractors have multiple interlock switches. Many plugs, many wires in an environment of moisture and dirt. Suggest cleaning each spade terminal on the key, brake and pto switches. Not easy to access any switch and plug.

For the brake switch. Access is possible thru the tunnel cover. But, just barely. Easiest to remove mower deck and lower frame panel.

On my 1864, I replaced the switches. Later intermittent failures again and back to jumping the starter solenoid. Last week I added a relay in the starter circuit similar to this https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...ad.php?t=53684
