Question Spirol Poll
Would you replace all Spirol pins when doing a complete restoration
even if the pins "look OK " ? Curious minds need to know

I do. It is cheap insurance.

Why spend all the time and money to restore only to put a rusted pin back in? It's the small details that goes into a restoration that makes a Cub look good.

I agree with Merk. I just took apart the driveline on the 1572 so I replaced all the spirol pins while I was at it.

Unless they have been beat on, almost all spiral pins look good from the ends, but the ends don't do the work, the work is done where you can't see. So to find out if they are good or not you gotta beat them out. Unless you are really in a jam, no one I know uses spiral pins over again, so now you gotta replace them.

Another way to look at it is; If you are showing off your freshly restored tractor to your most snobby neighbor... and you pull ther lever to raise the deck and a spirol pin breaks and the deck falls to the ground... imagine the look on their face and how it will make you feel.
