Default 1810 spring assist

Pardon my ignorance on this topic but I've been reading and researching and can't really find what I'm looking for.

What I think I know:

CC made a spring assist for the two stage 450 snow blower for my 1810 and another one for a three point hitch to use with a rear mounted tiller or earth plow for my 1810. The older narrow frame CC tractors could also have a spring assist system that would help lift any implement that was controlled by the lift arm (like mower decks and snow plow)

What I don't know:

Did they ever make spring assist for the wide frame tractors (1810) that would help lift any implement that was controlled by the lift arm (like mower deck or snow plow). It seems like there is room between the frame rails to attach a spring to the lift arm rockshaft, but I don't know if an OEM part exists. I may make my own but before I break out the welder I'd like to know if I'm reinventing the wheel. Maybe the old narrow frame system will work on my 1810?

Thanks.

In looking at the Attachment Options for the 1810, I can NOT find a spring assist to work with any implement. The 190-449 was used for the snowthrower attachment, but shows no pictures of how it was, or could be used.

By the time the 2nd Generation MTD/Cubs Came out, and Internal spring assist for the rocker shaft was eliminated as MTD had Felt the deck and front blade didn't require and assist Kit, and they made external Lift assist springs for the Cat 0 3point Hitch and the snow Blower So they didn't Produce Spring assist for the onboard Rocker-Shaft Like the Had done Under IH Tractors. By the cyclone series, MTD started to put an Onboard spring as Part of the rocker-shaft That Came Standard on the Manual lift, with the Standard Garden tractors IE 1340, 1535 & 1440

You should be able to put a wide frame spring assist on a 1810. I had one on a 1210.

IH-548380-R92 listed as correct for the 682, and others with the manual lift.

Yes, IH Produced it, But MTD did Not continue to produce the wide Frame spring assist. That said, It should attach to the Tractor and the Rocker shaft as the 1810 does use the same rocker shaft from the Later MTD 82 series Production, specifically the 482(there Might be some clearance Issues though with the Trans case & there May Not) . I always thought it was silly That MTD didn't continue to produce it, I always found the Mid-rocker shaft spring assist to Be a Nice addition to the Tractor.

I really don't know why the Original owner of My Cub Cadet 106 Never Had a Narrow Frame spring assist with his QA36A Thrower. The spring assist was the 1st thing I Bought for the 106 in 2003 when I started to use it for thrower work. Finally, Bought an electric lift and transferred the spring assist to the model 70

Really I think all Manufacturers of Garden tractor In the 60s & 70s should Have Made the spring assists they produced as standard equipment Because Throwers, Tillers and the 8 & 10-inch sleeve Hitch Plows we not that lite to lift. It's the One Place I never Understood Wheel Horse Tractor's, the Lack of a spring assist On their Tractors with Manual lift They Had external spring assists for the tiller and Throwers/blowers

Deere didn't start a Standard spring assist On Manual lift Garden tractor Until 1988 MTD/Cub didn't start Until the Cyclops series, Mostly it was the Late 1980s & early 1990s when Manufacturers started to make a spring assist an Integral Part of the Lift systems. I wish they Had still Made electric Lift Kits for the Manual Lift Cub Cadets that the 1810 was Part of or an Option to Put On a Hydraulic lift Kit for the Hydrostatic Models with Manual Lift

Well thats some interesting reading. I wonder if MTD eliminated the spring assist option to sell more hydro lift tractors?

If you can find a spring that is stout enough, they are fairly easy enough to make.

I have made several.

What is funny that to this day this lift assist kit is recognized by Cub Cadet on their parts lookup site if you search for parts for a 1210.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
