Hey guys,
Yesterday, Dad gave me a call, and asked me to describe a 129. I told him that it's a wide frame, with a 12 hp, Kohler, and it's got a 38 " deck. He said OK, now what's so good about them. Well, I said, if it's in decent shape, they are neat little tractors. Well there is one in town, and it's at the pawn shop, It's not really a pawn shop, but it's something like it... it's going for 400 Bucks. Dad says it's not worth 100. because of the fact, It's sitting on 4 flats, and dry rotten, cracked at that. the paints in despair, the deck, looks to be all rusted out. and the clutch on the engine is shot... literally, it fell off or something... My question is, Can I take the fenders off of it, and put them on my 1772. I'm aware that's it's not a super, and mine is, But I've done some comparing with pictures, and it seems that the floor pans, are the same distance from the wheels, Just the body is extended forward, on mine. So i'm thinking, if nothing else, I can switch out the fenders, and have 2 half way running tractors. Now if only I can find a super diesel, to take a few parts from. Also, I'm assuming that a 129 is an IH made, or is a newer... If I put in wrong place, Please move, I wasn't and still arn't sure, which is it. Thanks Cody |

While the fender part is basically identical, the 129 fenders have a built-in battery box, and the supers have a bolt-on battery box (or in the case of the diesels, a fuel tank that bolts on there. They are not interchangeable.

Well, I guess that answers that question.
I still havn't seen it, But, what features would be "selling point" meaning, it would be worth my while to buy it. If it's just bone dry, meaning nothing more than the basics, i'm gonig to leave it, But, What options were offereded that would make, an old rusted, clutchless 129 worth the 400, or even the 150 that I might offer him. Did these have the option of Creapers, and what are the things that would make it worth it... Just wondering. And thanks matt... ;( Turns out I was correct about it being the same fenders, just didn't know that not all cubs have the fuel tank under the seat, Where is it normal on the gas one's, Because both the Kubota and Cub I've got, have them under the seat. Thanks Cody and ACecil That's what I thought. |

A 129 would be hydrostatic, no creeper. Probably worth the $150 you were going to offer. I wouldn't pay much over that.

The gas tank is under the hood on all models except the Cyclops series and the diesels.

If I was looking at a 129 I would look for hydro lift, rear lift, spring assist, headlights and wheel weights

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
