After snowblowing last winter I decided that I needed a cab. I thought long and hard at how I could build one that would be cheap to build and yet be durable. That is why I settled on using 1.5" PVC pipe as a frame. I used existing holes on the tractor excecpt for the two that I had to drill underneath the seat. The cab can be tilted back if I need to work on anything. I finished the cab yesterday and all I have to do is wait for snow. I spent about $200 building the cab.

The front bolts down to the brackets that I made. You simply remove two bolts to tip it backwards.

The snow blower came off of a Snapper LT16, which was given to me before I bought the Cub Cadet. The 129 came with a 36" single stage snow thrower, which I have yet to use. Last year I made the mount to attached the Snapper blower and it works great.

Nice thanks for sharing. I too want to make my own cab, spring project. What did you use for material to skin in the cab and what material did you use for windows?

I used a heavy duty black tarp for the skin. I wish I could have found a yellow one to match the Cub Cadet, but I ran out of time. The back and side windows are made of heavy duty clear vinyl that I bought at Joaan Fabrics. I used aluminum pop rivets with fender washers to attach the skin to the PVC pipe. The front windshield is a piece of Lexan.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
