Default New from DE

I just got my first Cub. Its a 102. I found it by accident. Went to buy a parts motor for a log splitter and mentioned to the guy I would love to find an old cub cadet to restore. He took me back in a dusty old barn and under a broken down old combine sat the 102. He said it had bad compression. I asked how much. He said $200.00 but that's negotiable. I asked if he was interested in a trade for a 83 craftsman garden tractor with a box scraper and he was. I ran home loaded my old craftsman which ran but not great and hurried back before he changed his mind. After closer inspection, I found the only parts missing were the button in the steering wheel and the cover for the points. The motor must have gotten hot a valve was stuck head warped and ring was stuck. I got it running now. I can spend the winter restoring it. Look for me to ask lots of questions

1966....
Welcome!
Nice tractor. I have a mate to it with creeper gear also. Just about the same condition too. Mine needed a head gasket. Starts and runs good. You will have lots of fun restoring it.
Regards,
Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
