You may very well be right, if you "zoom in" on the first picture, it kinda looks like it has bolts in the tops of the spindles. However, if this should turn out to be a very early "O" that has had the frame replaced, I'm guessing that there is no reason that the front axle couldn't be original to the replacement frame.

On a side note, I would think that it wouldn't take a whole lot to "forge" a very early Original.

I'm guessing that about all you would really have to have is a 3 digit reduction housing, an old style frame, thin axle, old style dash tower, and a recoil engine.

Couldn't the rest of the parts be donated from a "newer" Original?

In any event, I'm guessing that this fellow really believes he has what he says he has, but I'm guessing that he is reading something other than the actual serial number.

Perhaps we should call Myth Busters or History Detectives to help us clear this up.

Prolly just a plain old original. The whole XX out of XX makes no sense whatsoever. Wrong spindles, creeper hole, wrong tread plates, rear rims with the larger slots, etc, etc. Of course, stuff could have been changed, but everything's not adding up. But why would it. It was built in 1959.

I hope for all involved it is the real deal. I'll let everyone know tomorrow. Looking at it in the morning.

Just joking!!!!!!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
