Depends. Do you want the Original Kohler (adjustable) Carburetor or the Walbro (fixed jet) ??

Personally, I much prefer the "American made" items over anything Chinese.

I'm with Roland on the Chinese stuff, but I have purchased them a few times for different equipment including cubs and for 15-20 bucks the 3 or 4 I've used have all worked well right out of the box with minor tweaking ! My preference is to rebuild my kohler's with kohler kits but sometimes it just doesn't work out !

I have had mixed experiences. I bought 2 Chinese carbs for my tiller. It would not run correct. Broke down and bought a OEM from a small engine shop. Ran great after that. One of the Cubs, an 1872, I got from the Diesel Doctor has a Chinese carb and it runs perfect. So it is a crap shoot in my opinion.

My "off-shore" carb appears to have an adjustable jet -- are these 'exact' copies of the oem carbs? For the OP, my carb ran great for 1½ years -- came with the tractor, but seems new. If I can fix the leak in my brass float It'll continue to be running great (see my other post) |

Re-hab the one you have, that is unless it is corroded and beat up to the point of no return.
Not really a big deal to go through one of these you know. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
