M18 starter ?s.
1st let me say that I haven't pulled it off yet. But this seeems to be an annual thing. The battery is charged. All of a sudden the starter won't engage. It clicks like it's hitting the flywheel. I lubed the bendix and such not too long ago. The starter was a brand new OEM not much more than a year ago and hasn't had a lot of use. This is the same thing it was doing when I replaced the last one. Acts like it just doesn't have the power to get the job done. I've read in the past of common issues with these but couldn't find much on a search. Any info would be appreciated. These are not cheap to replace.

The first suggestion I would have is run a Ground Cable (4GA) from the battery negative terminal to the body of the starter. Poor grounding is a common issue with GT's and Cub Cadet is no exception. NOW this maybe overkill but at a minimum I would clean, polish and tighten all your existing battery cables and connections.

Roland I already have heavy braided ground strap on everything including a case bolt on the starter. Learned that lesson years ago. Thanks for the suggestion.
Matt thanks I'll try that. I now have what appear to be 2 good starters that do this.
