Default 44 a spindles service?

I have a 44 a deck that I'm trying to get operational. two of the spindles don't seem to spin properly. Has there been a post that addresses fixing this issue. I can't seem to find it. If not does someone have some insight on this? Thanks Matt Are they serviceable?

Not sure about your deck but my 44 inch deck has grease fittings on each of the spindles. Might want to get some really thin grease at first just to get the spindles moving, then put the proper thicker grease in them if you get them moving. Otherwise might want to take them apart if possible and clean them up. I havent been inside of the spindles yet.

You should hear the spindles on my U deck. I am fixing a C deck for this very reason, Bearings are replaceable and from what I have heard are cheap to boot! I think my C ones are ok, just have to get the blades off the A deck I have and new axles on guide wheels, pulley and belt which I picked up today.

Default 44 GT deck spindle

i've located a 44GT deck that a guy had on a 1250 QL 2 of the spindles are sticky, are these spindles serviceable. on first inspection the grease is hard and nasty is there any way to pull out the bearings clean it all up replace with new grease and go. there is a seal that seems to be hindering the removal of the second bearing in spindle. will these parts just need to be replaced. Do i need a special press to put it all back together. Any help would be great. The grass is growing now. Thanks Matt

Default 44 C deck

On the CC parts page for the 44 C deck it shows that they are repairable. Is there another 44 inch deck that isn't? Also, you said the spindles for the 44 C were cheap. How cheap is your cheap? And where did you find them for that cheap price?
Thanks

If you are lucky enough to have the tapered timken bearings they are LM 11910 and Lm 11949
cup and cone.
they fit a boatload of Gm cars, being the outer wheel bearing, going back to the 1960's.
Just type in those numbers on evil pay and some are as low as $2.00 each.

Just got two at O'reilly's for around $10. Fit perfect and an easy repair. I didn't even need new seals although new ones should be used. Whole lot better than the sealed units. I will be pulling the three out of a rotted out A deck to see if I can save one or two for the U deck I have that needs some.

Default 44 GT deck service

I've gotten the spindles cleaned up a bit to see that there is a Timken 11949 cone bearing in there. Any tips on popping out the oil seal, or do I need a press. It's been close to twenty years since I've done this work and that was at a limestone quarry maintenance shop with all the right tools. I on the other hand am working with limited tools. Thanks again for all the info. Matt

Default CC parts site

I went to the CC parts page and could not even find the picture you show. I was there last week and not only did they show all of the mower decks but also showed all other implements made for my tractor. None of that is available now. When I looked it up last week it showed a blow up diagram of the spindels and they must have had twenty parts each in them. The kit they offered was about $220 each for the rebuild kit. They had each deck listed a well as the snow plows blowers etc by part number. Now when I go to that site they only list the tractor assembly and the engine assembly. I hate it when I am being framed by the bad guys at CC.

Default But wait, there's more!

I did find the diagram of the 44 C deck on the CC parts page but it took some doing. Here is the snap shot of the 44 C deck with repairable spindels.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
