Default Decided to work on #73 no fuel issue...

PO said this tractor ran when it was parked
Can you say when "Hector was a pup?"
The photos say it all
The positive note is that since this is so blocked there was virtually NO fuel in the carb to turn into varnish over the last umpteen years since it was "parked"
Simple rebuild on the carb should do it. This will be a working tractor (well maybe) Should I mess with this fuel bowl arrangement or change to inline filter?

I would replace it with another one. One of my local small engine repair shops stock a replacement Oregon sediment bowl that is all metal even the adjusting nut at the bottom of the bowl. The plastic nuts on the bottom break after a very years so make sure you get a all metal one.

I agree, I've had better luck with sediment bowls.

I agree with Gary...nothing like a rainbow to make your sediment bowl "pop" !

I've had sediment bowls that look like yours in the past, and cleaned them up to be usable again. Another option is to go to Napa and pick up a steel, lawn and garden petcock of the appropriate thread size, and splice in a modern gravity feed fuel filter in-line.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
