Are the floor board plates/ traction pads ,interchangeable between the 82's and say the Quite lines? I guess the easy question is will the steel tread plates for a Quite line or other model fit the 82's correctly ?
I need to put something on my newly painted fenders and cant find anything. I don't really want the replacement rubber kind. Any help, or suggestions ? Thanks Joe

I would stick to the rubber ones,On the metal ones it is just another place for rust to form...

I was thinking Aluminum, but everybody lists them as fitting the quite lines or wide frames.

Well I know a set from a 1x6 1x7 will line up with the holes, but you will have one extra hole, and without a fastner in it,it will prolly rattle. You would also have to make a cut out on the right side for the rockshaft.

I guess I will just have to pick up a piece of diamond plate and make my own.

They are not a different size, but you can use them on a 82 series by drilling one extra hole for the back bolt. Did that on my 682...
They don't trap stuff and cause rust any worse than the rubber ones. |

Matt,
You know when I laid them on the 782 they look a whole lot better than the rubber ones. Some would not drill extra holes,"wanna keep it correct",but I see nothing wrong in doing it for this purpose.

Exactly. I had them and I used them. They weren't doing me any good sitting in a box.
I was going to make some out of aluminum diamond plate, but that may be asking for dis-similar metal corrosion where they contact the fender pan. The salt in the winter will also destroy them. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
