When I took mine apart I found an online service manual.
http://ccmanuals.info/pdf/1x8-9%20&%...e%20Manual.pdf I believe it starts down around page 60 or so. If I remember correctly it addresses this issue in it. on mine there were 2 short pins stacked on top of each other in each side. When looking down at the assembly, with the swash plate straight (horizontally), you should be able to pound the "top" pin until the "bottom" pin is loose enough to get out by tipping the swash plate. Then the top pin will be centered in the trunnion shaft. Be careful not to pound the pins to far as it will jam against the case, making it really hard to get the first pin out. Here is a link to the thread I made when I took mine apart. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4958

You need to read and completely understand the disassembly procedure in the service manual that jbollis posted, for the very reason you've just discovered, if nothing else, before you go any further. There are several steps that you have to do correctly or you'll destroy the pump either taking it apart or reassembling it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
