122 snow blade
I picked up a snow blade for my 122 recently, it looks like a brand new plow on a restored/painted narrow frame hanger, but it did not come with a lift rod. It mounts up and everything but the lift arm I have is about 2" too short. It is a reinforced lift arm from a QA42 snow thrower. I thought I read elsewhere that the lift rod should be the same between the QA42 snow thrower and the snow blade. I've made sure the block for the deck height is all the way out so that's not in the way. How long should the lift arm be for this?

Well that makes sense, I measured my rods (I have two actually) and both are 27" long.

I got it sorted out. I used a 1/2” x 36” rod and heat bent it at the ends to 32.5”, drilled pin holes and cut off the excess 1” or so from each end. It looks good as new.

Blade and lift rod both look awesome! Nice job fabricating it up. Just need some IH white on that lift rod and you are ready for plowing.

lift rod fab
I practiced my mig welding with a lift rod. I used a grinder to notch out a 'V' groove in some 1/2' rod, bent it over to 90degees and welded away. Looks pretty clean after a little grinding. Also bought some really thin stainless, 1/2" shim washers from McMAster and I use them on lift rods and all over the tractor. They fit where thicker washer won't.
