Default Lawn tractor not going in reverse.

My wife's uncle has a 3 year old Cub Cadet. Not sure of the model number.
He says it just barely creeps in reverse. This happened last year and he took it to a Cub Cadet dealer and they adjusted something.
Now it not going into reverse again.

Anyone have a clue what could cause that?
BTW - I already advised him to go find his manual that he got when he bought the tractor.
Thanks,
Titanium / Dave

I was at his house a few days ago. I was gonna take the deck off, and look at the linkage from the foot pedal to the rear end. There had to be some kind of adjustment nut on the linkage... or so I figure.

But, he had other priorities. He wanted me to help him work on his ole 149 instead! Ha Ha

The next time I'm over there, I'll write down the model number and post it.

Pop's Cub Cadet is a GT 2542.

I hope this info will help me to help him.

Like I said, I figured that I could find some sort of adjustment nut on the linkage... I figure if you turn it one way and that doesn't help, then try turning the other way... But, he's skeptical and doesn't want me to experiment. :biggrin2.gif:

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
