Alright guys here is where I'm at: I admit I am not a mechanic sooooooo I started the process to change my right axle oil seal. I got the cover off, the clip that holds the axle in place is off, and well I am stuck with what to do next. The brake would be my guess and then the axle should slide out and thusly the seal can be replaced? What do I do next? Here is a pic: Great thing is that NO SLUDGE whatsoever was found in the backend!!

Remove brake, then slid axle out. Remember to lube the new seal when you put the axle back in.

Do I take the caliper off the disc or take the whole brake assembly off of the rear axle housing?

Papaglide Some people use a pan to catch the hydro fluid when they remove the back cover.

Funny...the crap on the floor is from the rear axle housing. After I took the rear cover off and DRAINED IT INTO A PAN, I busted the rear axle housing loose and a whole crap load of hytran came out and snuck its way onto the floor!!
Like I asked earlier, "Do I take the caliper off the disc or take the whole brake assembly off of the rear axle housing?" |

Well, my plans are on hold until Monday. My local dealers are closed so I don't have the parts.

I just took the caliper off and left the bracket on the axle tube. I put some trans fluid on the seal and some on the axle where the seal will touch the axle. Put a drain pan under the trans case to catch any fluid that comes out after draining. If I were you, I would replace both seals while you have it apart. (maybe you had that planed.) Sorry for the delay.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
