Hi Folks, my name is Adam, I own two Cub Cadets a 102 and a 147. Neither of them are in working condition right now. My goal is to get one of them up and running for the upcoming garden and mowing season. I have been around IH all my life in one way or another. I own a '65 R185, a '67 1600 loadstar, for trucks and a '56 100, '59 460 Hi-Clear Utility, '62 404 row crop, '62 504 row crop, '64 606 Hi-Clear Utility and a 68 504 row crop which I have put a 6 cyl. gas engine in for tractor pulling. There are no parade queens, they all have their work clothes on...as time and money permits I will go through each one of them. I look forward to reading and watching other members who are restoring their Cub Cadets. Dont be afraid to comment or ask questions.

Welcome Adam
I've rebuilt both my K301 ( 12 hp ) Kohlers in my 122 and 125. I put a thread together "documenting" the rebuild on the 125 ( on a corvette forum in their off topic section ![]() Jeff |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
