Default Engine ID

I had the privilege of going through a barn before it got torn down and was able to pull out 5 engines before they went to the scrap heep. Amongst the 5 were one I can't ID yet, a single cyl. Wisconsin w/ mag, a model 143301 B&S, and two Cadet engines. The owner said these engines have been sitting in there for no less than 30-35 years, but knew I "enjoyed" working with them, so he asked me to come get them.

One of the Cadet engines is a 10 hp model K241A (s/n 3240239). It pretty much is a boat anchor considering its really rusted, no oil pan, rod, piston, head, and the bottom is eaten out of the flywheel cover. But the other Cadet engine is a bit smaller than the 10hp, so I am assuming it is a 7hp. It doesn't have a flywheel cover so no factory ID sticker.

With that being said, is there any way possible, to by using any markings or numbers of the casting, to find out exactly what engine model it is? Just want to check as ultimately I may have 5 boat anchors or 5 parts machines at best.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I will try to get pics up sometime soon as well.

Take the head off and measure the bore and stroke.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
